Camino Real Tennis Courts Update
Following a recent inspection, the tennis courts at Camino Real Park, originally built in 1972, have been closed.
The inspection determined that the courts have reached the end of their usable lifespan. Resurfacing or sealing the cracks
is no longer a viable or cost-effective solution. A full rebuild is required.
The most recent estimate, completed in July 2025, projected rebuild costs of more than $3.8 million.
Grant Funding Update
In 2023 and again in 2025, the City pursued State Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant funding to help fund
reconstruction of the tennis courts and construction of new pickleball courts. The project was not selected during either
funding cycle. Staff have continued pursuing possible grant opportunities.
In early June 2026, the City Council allocated $840,000 towards the project, allowing staff to begin efforts on the design phase.
The City is currently selecting a design consultant.
Construction
Once design work is complete and construction funding is identified, staff will pursue construction through a formal bid process.
